A few new features are now available on the D5 softball website that might require some explanation.
STANDINGS
Two new columns are now available to show the teams winning or losing streak (Streak) and number of games behind the leader (GB).
ROSTER
Previously, only the names of the players were listed as the roster for each team. Now it includes more information about the player including their status as a primary pitcher, BOD member, Manager, asst. manager, certified pitcher and if the player is in the batting line up. As the season progresses, some players are removed from the lineup but their stats remain. In some cases like non-playing managers, they are in the roster but do not show up in the lineup for batting or pitching stats.
One new column that might be of interest is the column 'BO' which is the most recent Batting Order of the players of the team. When our data entry scoring team (John, Jim and Steve) enter the scores into the website they typically reorder the names on the data entry system to match the order of the names on the hand written scoring sheets which is the line up order the manager set for the game. This makes it easier to enter scores in the system. The system remembers that lineup order for the next game by showing the names in ascending order of the BO number. The actual BO number is not important, it is just used for sorting.
If managers would like to enter this data so they can print out the game roster before a game then please let me know. I can add other details like position so you can print out the roster before a game. This also helps the data entry team as the names in the data entry window will match your actual batting order when they go to enter the scores in the system...
PAST SEASON STATISTICS
Coming soon, you will be able to look back at game statistics from earlier seasons as far back as Summer 2019. Thanks to Ken Kardashian for providing this data from Summer 2019 to Fall 2023.
TIPS and TRICKS
Double Click Rows: You will notice if you click on a row on a list that the row will turn orange. If you double click or double tap (finger) on the row, it will take you to that teams page in the case of Standings showing their games performance. If you double click (tap) the row in the Batting or Pitching stats, it will take you to that player's results page.
Sorting: All lists can be sorted by clicking on a header. For example, clicking on HR in batting stats will sort the list by ascending HR. Click it again and it will sort in reverse.
Searching: Enter some characters in the search box to filter the list by first name, last name or team name.
Grouping: Notice the box above the Batting Stats that says "Drag a column header here to group by that column". If you use your mouse (or finger) to drag the "Team Name" column header into this area, all the batting stats will be grouped by the team.
Before Team Name drag...
After Team Name Drag..
Click the plus (+) button beside the team name to expand the team.
By looking at team batting performance this way avoids you having to click each team to see team performances.
